As a sergeant in the U.S. Marines, Kevin Vacca and his wife, Lolita, came into the church in 1982. Within two years they felt a call to foreign missions. He eventually left the military to work in the aerospace industry. Because of his job, they were able to serve as AIMers in Germany, where they started a Filipino Fellowship; then they were transferred to Misawa, Japan, where the church they founded is still going. After returning to the States Brother Vacca was sent as an advisor to the Taiwan Department of Defense. While in Taiwan they founded the UPC in Taichung City.
The Vaccas were appointed missionaries in 1994. Even while attending Chinese language school, they organized five international works in five cities. Their appointment was changed to the Philippines in May 1999. They completed their 1999-2000 furlough and deputation and arrived in their new field in June 2000.
