Moving Towards our Vision

Mathilda Christophe
I was raised in a strict Catholic environment. I went to a Catholic Church every Sunday and I prayed but I did not have the truth. I was caught up in the world, music, drinking and going to clubs. Sister Sharon House won me to God in January 2002; I received the Holy Ghost and was baptized in Jesus name. Sister House always tried to talk to me about God, but I always found a way to change the subject. I knew she was different, but I just didn’t understand how. One day while she was walking to my car, I saw her in a different light. There was a glowing light surrounding her. That day I told her that I didn’t know what she had, but whatever it was, I wanted it. I pray that the light I saw in her will also show in me so that I can win people to God too. God has blessed me in so many ways, I have peace that I thought I could never have. I have friends and I’ve learned to trust people. God has blessed me with a job that everyone said I would never get. I thank God for bringing me to Apostolic Tabernacle to receive the Truth. I thank God for the Pastor and his wife, Sis. Roch, the leaders of the church and all the members of the church. I never thought that people you’re not related to would care about you so much. I am continually growing and understanding God’s word and praying for my family and love ones to be saved.

Delivered Regina Smith In the summer of 1979, I started snorting cocaine. I thought I was on top of the world. In March of 1980, I began to use crack cocaine. I thought that I would not get addicted because I didn't smoke it on the pipe. Well, I was wrong. After the first taste of crack I became addicted. I smoked marijuana and crack together which is named "primo" on the streets. It wasn't until May 3, 1997 that I became drug free. How did it happen? When I would smoke I would pray that God would take the taste out of my mouth. After thirteen years of stealing, lying and sleeping around, I got tired. I enrolled in a treatment center and began coming to Apostolic Tabernacle Church the same week. My mother was a member of Apostolic Tabernacle. I felt so good when I came to this church, better than the crack high made me feel. I had lost trust in everyone that loved me except Jesus. He did not give up on me. The AA and NA meetings say, 'once an addict, always an addict'. But, I'm not a drug addict anymore, now I'm addicted to Jesus. On that day, the taste left my mouth. I changed my mind about drugs because I was tired of the devil dragging me down. God delivered me. I have been drug free for seven years now.
Poem By Regina Smith Jesus is the real thing, not crack cocaine. For thirteen years, my life was insane. For seven years, I know I've been changed, since I started walking in Jesus name. I was smoking crack, and it was smoking me. Now my mind, body, and soul are set free. ****************

Single, But No Time For Life Do you feel overwhelmed by all the tasks you must complete at work, home and at church? We have all felt at sometime that there is too much to do and too little time to get it done, but when that becomes the rule rather than the exception it is time to reorganize, rethink, and rework our priorities. The first step in destressing our lives is to determine where we are spending our time. For at least two weeks, keep a journal and write down everything that you do that takes more than five minutes. At the end of the two weeks categorize the activites and add up the total amount of time spent on each activity. You may find several ways to combine, condense or delegate some of your daily activities to free up more time. You may find that there are even some things that you can eliminate from your daily schedule. Get rid of the clutter. Number two, we must "get real" about the number of high priorities we allow yourselves. Review goals and task that must be accomplished first and highlight only the ten most important. You don't have to give up the other items or goals that you put aside, simply put them on hold for now. As you accomplish some goals, you can remove them from your high priority list and move something else to a high priority in its place. By focusing on fewer goals at one time you can accomplish more of them in a shorter period of time because you are not spreading yourself thin by working on too many things at one time. Last, break down goals into daily, weekly and monthly goals. This allows you to focus and gives you a time limit to make it more likely that you will complete each goal. Be realistic about the time limits that you impose on yourself. If you find a task or goal imposing, break it down into smaller sections and parts. Make each part or task a goal and make sure to acknowledge to yourself when each of these items are complete. Be sure to include fun time in your busy schedule. God Bless!
