The stated purpose of the Boy Scouts of America "is to provide an educational program for boys and young adults to build character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness".
Notice how closely this mirrors some of the goals and responsibilities of the church. Our children are truly our most worthy investment and in the day and culture we now live in our young men are under siege.
Psalms 144:12 says that after God gives victory then our sons will be like plants nurtured in their youth. This nurturing process involves some sacrifice and committment but the end result of this process is too great and the results of an unnurtured plant too devastating for us to not fulfill it.
